Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP WINTER HEATING PROGRAM 

 

McHenry County Housing Authority continues to take applications for the energy program on an "Appointment Only Basis".  This program will assist low income households by giving them a grant toward their gas and/or electric bills.  An overdue bill or cut-off notice is not required.  In order to make an appointment you must call the McHenry County Housing Authority at (815) 338-7752.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?                      

Households and individuals whose incomes are less than the following maximum for the last thirty days:

HOW ASSISTANCE IS

OBTAINED                                      Applicants must bring the following documentation with them for the appointment:  (1)  Proof of income for all household members for the 30 days prior to the day of their appointment; (2)  Current Utility Bills – gas, electric, fuel oil, propane; (3)  Social Security cards for all household members; (4)  Rental Agreement, Lease, Computation Sheet or Mortgage Payment Book that states the amount of rent/mortgage paid; and (5)  Current Medical Card, Link Card or WIC.
